Momence Fire Protection District

One of the best ways for us at the Momence Fire Protection District to provide the safest experience for those who live or travel through the Momence area is to prevent fire incidents altogether. Public education and fire prevention programs have proven to be a valuable means of accomplishing this goal, and the Momence Fire Protection District is continuously striving to improve upon our initiatives in this area.

 

Currently, we coordinate programs through the Momence Community Unit School District #1 for fire prevention and education, as well as host a number of public classes in the firehouse. Beyond that, we welcome the opportunity to tour local residences or businesses in order to conduct fire risk assessments and work cooperatively with community members in order to improve upon fire safety. As part of the "Be Alarmed" program coordinated by the Illinois Fire Safety Alliance and Office of the State Fire Marshal, the Momence Fire Protection District is capable of providing smoke detectors to those who occupy residences that lack them free of charge. The provided smoke detectors are concealed battery operated alarms that are designed to operate for a 10 year lifespan.
